Tim Fite

I have been listening to this Hip Hop album by Tim Fite. I think it has some really awesome stuff on it. You can get the entire thing here. The album is a huge tirade about our current american society and I think it is pretty on point. And as he speaks about the harm of commercialism he proves his point by recording this record on a small budget and giving it away. This is a really cool way to use the power of the internet. I would have never listened to this album if it was not free but now I would love to see him live or possibly buy a future album. Very cool.

God Bless the CTA

For those of you from Chicago you realize how totally crazy the CTA is right now. For a city this big we have a long way to go in becoming the “Green City”, the mayor wants us to become. We have virtually no recyclying program which is a crime, and the public transit leaves a lot to be desired. The extreme version of this is the picture I took last night while riding my bike. I biked through a cloud of smoke and looked over to see a fire on the CTA tracks. It looks horrible but I don’t think anyone was hurt. I am sure the blue line was shutdown for a while though. It must have been a nightmare.

50% of the worlds languages have been lost in six years!

I just watched a lecture that I think is really interesting. I think that we as a people tend to be so obsessed with progress that we forget the wisdom of what came before us. Also the power of diversity as we move toward a simple streamlined society. Check out the video here.

I almost got killed by an beverage.

Okay, so I like hardcore stuff. Not hardcore in the sexual connotation but in stuff that helps you be an overall bad ass. So you know health food, technology, self-help books. Thats right. So I was on a road trip today and stopped at a food co-op in Iowa City. Every time I go to a new grocery store I can’t help but do a little perusing looking for sweet new items and such. I love food. So when looking for an icey cold beverage on a unseasonably warm day I was taking a back. There in front of me was the most hardcore beverage I had ever seen. It was called Synergy and as you can see from their website it basically claims to heal everything and anything. Supposedly the fonder start bottling it after he saved his mom from cancer with this tea. Woah. I was sold. I am a huge spectic but I will try anything once. I graped one and got in the car. There was a bunch of floaters in it so I shook it up and tore off the plastic seal with my teeth. The thing exploded like a gun shot and the top flew into the back of the car. I was driving 60 miles per hour down a country road and was cover in tea. I could have easily lost an eyeball and flew into a ditch. Again, woah. After I regained my cool I drank some. It was pretty intense. I have not noticed any super human strength yet but I will let you know. The irony of almost losing an eyeball to a health drink is obvious.

Prosper

The idea behind this website is one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time. It is a system for people to directly invest in each other and (almost) eliminate the middle man. I think I am going to put some money into it and see how it does. The Internet empowers the little guy and I love it. If we could empower the little guy enough to get us some health care then maybe this country might be great again after all. Maybe I am going too far.

Sking this weekend.

I want to go skiing in Wisconsin this weekend. Get up early, get a box of joe, hit the road, nap it up in the lodge. Someone else has got to be into this idea.

We are past the worst of it.

According to my canculations. It will get warmer in my zip code on average starting Jan 14th. The days will keep getting brighter and warmer. There is something for you to look forward to.
